McEachern is a former Boston University
hockey star who has had an outstanding 13-year career in the NHL with
Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Boston, Ottawa, and Atlanta. He has scored 254
career goals in the NHL (and 12 more in the playoffs) and his teams qualified
for the playoffs in each of his first 11 seasons in the league. He has
served as a team captain in both Ottawa and Atlanta. Earlier this year,
Shawn was the Thrashers nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy, given annually
to the NHL player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance,
sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey. He was a member of Pittsburgh’s
Stanley Cup champion team in his rookie season of 1991-92. Shawn was selected
to two US Olympic hockey teams. He scored one goal for the 1992 squad
in Albertville, and was unable to play due to injury in the 1998 Games
