Jo White had his number 10 jersey retired
by the Boston Celtics in a ceremony at Boston Garden on April 9, 1982.
One of the best and most durable players in Celtics history, his streak
of 488 consecutive games played remains a franchise record. A first-round
pick of the Celtics out of Kansas in 1969, Jo Jo spent the first 10 years
of his 12-year playing career with Boston. He finished his career with
the C's averaging 18.3 points per game, and led the Green in assists four
times. A clutch post-season performer, he played a key role in Boston's
run to both the 1974 and 1976 World Championships, finishing with a career
21.5 points per game average in the playoffs. He played 60 minutes in
the Celtics historic triple-overtime win over the Phoenix Suns in the
1976 NBA finals, and was named the series Most Valuable Player. Jo Jo
